{"id":446,"date":"2008-04-02T20:33:52","date_gmt":"2008-04-03T00:33:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/?p=446"},"modified":"2020-12-05T12:46:20","modified_gmt":"2020-12-05T17:46:20","slug":"mlk-jr-memorial-bridge-2010-closure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2008\/04\/02\/mlk-jr-memorial-bridge-2010-closure\/","title":{"rendered":"MLK Jr Memorial Bridge 2010 Closure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An article posted on the <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.fortwayne.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/JG\/20080402\/LOCAL\/746041090\">Journal Gazette website<\/span> indicates that to save expense, a temporary bridge over the St. Mary&#8217;s River will not be built while the old bridge undergoes removal and the new bridge is built.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Either way, the State DOT will handle the detour&#8217;s details and setup.\u00c2\u00a0 The project will take approximately a year.\u00c2\u00a0 According to the article, the cost of the project is now $7.8 million, down from $8.1 million.\u00c2\u00a0 The City&#8217;s share also dropped $11,000 to $1.9 million.<\/p>\n<p>From the article:\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Although the city is moving forward with the project, Ross [City Engineer] said officials still have not identified the source of the city&#8217;s share of construction funds.
