Embassy Theatre Foundation honors volunteers of the year and elects board of directors for 2014-15<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(October 22, 2014) – Volunteers of the Embassy Theatre Foundation were honored for their service at the organization’s annual meeting, which took place Oct. 21, 2014, at the Embassy Theatre.<\/p>\n

The 2013-14Volunteer of the Year award was presented to Dennis Campbell for leadership skills that inspire and engage his fellow volunteers. “Dennis is one of our most trusted usher captains,” said Kelly Maahs, front of house director, who coordinate the Embassy’s 400 volunteer corps. “He has the respect and admiration of both his fellow volunteers and the Embassy staff.”<\/p>\n

Also honored were Thomas and Penelope Mathiesen, who were given the Dale McNeal Award for sustained volunteer leadership. The Mathiesens, of Ellettsville, Ind., have provided funding for re-installation of theater lobby draperies as well as for repairs and upgrades to the Embassy’s historic slideshow projector, called a Brenograph. In addition, the Mathiesens have funded what is now the world’s largest collection of rare glass Brenograph slides. “In addition to gathering this collection for the Embassy, Tom and Penny have cleaned, researched and catalogued all the slides,” stated Kelly Updike, Embassy executive director. “They also have bought, re-milled or fixed many of the Brenograph machinery parts.”<\/p>\n

Five board members were re-elected to a second three-year term by the Embassy’s membership: Tom Borne, Asher Agency; Tim Durnell, First Republic Mortgage Corp.; Chris Gomez, Kroger Company; Jeff Potter, Mad Ants; and Deborah Woodroof, community volunteer.<\/p>\n

Newly elected to the board were Whitney Caudill, Manchester University; Rob Evans, Focus Hotels; Clayton Jennings, Hylant; and John O’Connell, IPFW.<\/p>\n

Officers for 2014-15 are: Chris Gomez, Kroger, president; Gary Wasson, retired, Grand Wayne Center, vice president; Rick Maples, Angel Corps, treasurer; and Tim Durnell, First Republic Mortgage, secretary.<\/p>\n

Other Embassy board members are: Kimberly Amick, Fort Wayne Metals; Ryan Bergdoll, Haines, Isenbarger & Skiba; Carolyn Brody, retired, Lincoln Financial Group; Suzanne Ehinger, Parkview; Christopher Guerin, Sweetwater Sound; Sister M. Elise Kriss, University of Saint Francis; Tim Rooney, Stifel Nicolaus; Jeremy Senk, Carson Boxberger; Brad Sturges, CBRE Sturges; Pone Vongphachanh, Upstate Alliance of Realtors; and Keitha Wesner, community volunteer.<\/p>\n
