History Center announces events for November<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(October 15, 2014) – A lecture on the Fort Wayne pilot Cap Cornish, Traders Days and the Festival of Gingerbread fill the events calendar for November at the History Center.<\/p>\n

Sunday, November 2, Ruth Ann Ingraham will deliver the George R. Mather Lecture and sign copies of her book “Cap Cornish, Indiana Pilot: Navigating the Century of Flight”. Ingraham is the daughter of Cornish, who was a pilot for the Foellinger family and managed Baer Field, now Smith Field, for a number of years. Cornish, at age 97, broke the Guinness World Record as the oldest living pilot.<\/p>\n

The lecture is free and open to the public and begins at 2 p.m. at the museum, 302 East Berry Street, Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n

Saturday and Sunday, November 1-2, will be Traders Days at the Chief Richardville House, 5705 Bluffton Road. This event features fine quality hand-made Native American arts and crafts for sale by vendors.<\/p>\n

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. There is no admission charge.<\/p>\n

Among the items for sale will be fine art, gourd work, beading, carved wooden pieces, corn husk dolls, Christmas ornaments, Native American shields, jewelry, clothing, feather work and much more.<\/p>\n

The 29th annual Festival of Gingerbread opens on November 28 and runs until December 14. This Fort Wayne holiday classic features over 100 tasty creations crafted by persons from pre-schoolers to professional chefs.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, November 25, a Preview Gala will be hosted by the museum from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and must be purchased in advance. On Lighting Night, November 26, admission will be reduced to $3 per person with a sneak peek of the houses from 5 to 9 p.m. Santa will also be on hand that evening.<\/p>\n

Visitors to the Festival of Gingerbread are welcome to tour the entire museum and to especially look at the new permanent exhibition gallery “Allen County Innovation”. Proceeds from the Festival go to support of the museum and its collection.<\/p>\n
