\nHighly successful workshops have been conducted in Indianapolis and Peoria<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
(September 26, 2014) – Kroger Central Division, the American Cancer Society, Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana (CSNI) and Francine’s Friends are jointly hosting a free Partners in Survival\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 workshop. The event will be held at the Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM on Wednesday, October 15th.<\/p>\n
Advance registration is required by contacting Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana at 260-484-9560. Kroger and the other partners are paying all costs of the workshop, including a healthy dinner, so that cost is not a barrier to participation. A minimum of 10 participants is required.<\/p>\n
The seminar, entitled Partners in Survival\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 provides a unique, empowering, uplifting opportunity for men who act as caregivers for their wives, mothers and daughters battling breast cancer. This program acknowledges the burden on male care-givers and equips them to be more knowledgeable and effective in that role, improving the quality of patient survivorship by teaching men problem-solving techniques that focus on the needs of both the breast cancer patient and the family.<\/p>\n
The workshop includes a presentation by Marc Heyison, President and Founder of Men Against Breast Cancer. In the men-only breakout, Marc creates a unique, male-friendly environment with practical learning opportunities. His easy-to-understand methodology has been shown to increase quality of life and decrease distress in patients and their families. The workshop includes a women-only breakout session, so men attending the event are encouraged to bring along the woman they support. These are intended to be fun, relaxing and motivating activities for the women.<\/p>\n
All participants come back together again for a wrap-up session.<\/p>\n
