USF exhibition spotlighting contemporary painting, Rolling Stones Fort Wayne visit photos<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne Indiana (August 29, 2014) – The University of Saint Francis will spotlight national contemporary painters and a photographic record of the 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones’ visit to Fort Wayne in its Weatherhead, Goldfish and Spotlight galleries in the School of Creative Arts Nov. 8 through Dec. 21. An opening reception will be Saturday, Nov. 8 from 6-9 p.m. at the school on Leesburg Road. Galleries will close Nov. 27-30 for the Thanksgiving holiday.<\/p>\n

This exhibition will present works by 12 nationally recognized artists that focus on painting as an artistic medium. A variety of subject matter, from realism to abstraction, will be on display. Artists will include: Chris Cosnowski, Eric Edward Esper, Michiko Itatani, Brenda Moore and Judith Mullen of Chicago; Peter Drake, William Eckhardt Kohler, Shay Kun, Jennifer Presant and Chris Uphues of New York City; Michael Stillion of Columbus, Ohio; and Ed Valentine of Delaware, Ohio. All artists and works are presented by Linda Warren, owner and director of Linda Warren Projects, Chicago.<\/p>\n

In tandem with this exhibit, the Goldfish Gallery will feature works by artist Brenda Moore. This solo exhibition will feature paintings, mixed-media works, encaustics and drawings on paper. Her works symbolize the emotions of frivolity and loss and adapt imagery from past history.<\/p>\n

Also, works by photographer Stephen Perfect and the 50th Anniversary Rolling Stones Exhibition will be featured in the Spotlight Gallery. The exhibit documents the 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones’ visit to Fort Wayne on November 12, 1964, for an interview with Ann Colone for local CBS affiliate, WANE-TV. Documentary photographer Perfect captured images of the Rolling Stones, Colone and the excitement of the local crowd. A collection of images from the event and proof sheets showing each photographed image will provide a look at a historic event from Fort Wayne’s past.<\/p>\n
