Brown ready to rake her conservative voice to Indianapolis to represent the interests of the district<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
(January 29, 2014) – Today, Liz Brown formally announced her campaign for Indiana Senate District 15 at Connolly’s Do It Best on Dupont Rd, in Fort Wayne. Brown, who served on Fort Wayne’s City Council from 2008-2011 and who has a long history of volunteer service in the community, shared her intentions to earn the Republican
\nnomination before a gathering of family, friends and neighbors. Brown told the group that she filed paperwork at the Secretary of State’s office on January 27.<\/p>\n
The following excerpts are from Brown’s remarks, as prepared for delivery:<\/p>\n
Why she’s running<\/strong>: “I was recently asked why I was running for office, why I wanted this job, And the answer is since I was very young, I have appreciated what it takes to be a public servant. When I was 10 years old, growing up in a very small town in central Pennsylvania, I started volunteering with the Red Cross. We taught swimming to the youth, senior citizens, and mentally and physically challenged. I did that for the next six years, all summer long So it is time to have a public servant, a new state senator, who will continue to work hard to build upon the strong foundation our lawmakers have begun to build here in Indiana,”<\/p>\nOn the economy<\/strong>: “Indiana has just broken into the Top 10 of the best states to do business in the U.S. But in order for great homegrown companies like Do It Best and Connolly’s here to continue to grow good jobs, we cannot rest. In order to continue Indiana’s economic rebirth, we need to continue to pass laws that will promote job growth here in Indiana, Burdensome tax policies, such as those that prevent Indiana businesses from adding jobs need to be eliminated. If our businesses expand, and add jobs, then more Hoosiers will be back to work, in good jobs.”<\/p>\nOn education<\/strong>: “My experience as a teacher, whether in the kindergarten room or the college classroom, has proven to me that children can excel academically, but only if we require it of them. We need to have an education system that promises success for its graduates. Our educational policies need to be just that, Indiana educational standards, and not some Common Core rules imposed by D.C. bureaucrats. We need to keep our promises to our students that when they graduate, whether from high school, technical school, community college or a four-year college, that not only will their skills match their diploma, but we will have jobs waiting for them right here in Indiana.”<\/p>\nOn infrastructure<\/strong>: “We need to address the long-term infrastructure plan for this state, ‘The Crossroads of America,’ a sign I first saw driving on the Indiana Toll Road so many years ago. These roads have literally taken my children all over the place, and as of last night, they are on four different continents. But they run both ways, and we need to make sure that our system truly earns us the right to be called the Crossroads. Whether it is highway, rail or even Internet infrastructure, we need to make sure we have the resources to maintain and grow a system upon which businesses depend in order to keep their products moving.”<\/p>\nThe primary election is May 6.<\/p>\n

\nLiz Brown, Republican candidate for Senate District 15, believes in U.S. Constitutional conservative principles like fiscal responsibility and limited government that have made Indiana a great place to do business and raise a family. Brown served on the Fort Wayne City Council from 2008- 201 1 . She has a long history of community involvement including roles with Boys and Girls Clubs, Cub Scouts, Parkview Hospital Ethics Committee, Notre Dame Club of Fort Wayne and various school boards.
