{"id":42626,"date":"2014-08-28T08:00:31","date_gmt":"2014-08-28T12:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/?p=42626"},"modified":"2020-12-21T11:35:00","modified_gmt":"2020-12-21T16:35:00","slug":"afw-tbt-wizards-last-game-parkview-field-construction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2014\/08\/28\/afw-tbt-wizards-last-game-parkview-field-construction\/","title":{"rendered":"AFW TBT: Wizards last game and Parkview Field under construction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Six years ago tonight, the Fort Wayne Wizards played their last home game at Memorial Stadium at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Construction on the new downtown ball park, Parkview Field, was well under way.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s AroundFortWayne ThrowBack Thursday looks at photos and video from that last game as well as photos of Parkview Field taken from the Lincoln Tower Observation Deck that afternoon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Memorial_Stadium_(Fort_Wayne)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to Wiki<\/a>, Memorial Stadium saw 6,106 fans in attendance that last game. Overall, the stadium saw 4,046,261 from the first game on April 18, 1993 through the last. Consider that on September 2, 2013, the TinCaps &#8211; only in their 4th season &#8211; had already hit the 2 million fan mark.
