Julia McIntosh named as Allen County CASA director<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(August 25, 2014) – Allen Superior Court Judge Charles Pratt announced the appointment of Julia McIntosh to replace the retiring director of the Allen County’s Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program. For the past twenty-nine years Rex McFarren served in that capacity and was the program’s originator in Allen County. Under his leadership hundreds of volunteers have completed the training required to be the court representative for children who have suffered abuse or neglect. <\/p>\n

Julia McIntosh has served as the CASA program’s volunteer coordinator since 2006. She formerly served as a case manager with the Department of Child Services and had been recognized was case manager of the year. McIntosh is a graduate of Indiana University. Judge Pratt stated that McIntosh’s appointment was supported by multiple community leaders who have worked in support of past and current CASA projects. “Not only is she very familiar with the program’s operation, Julia brings a unique combination of leadership, empathy, energy and passion for the protection of children”, Pratt stated.<\/p>\n

In addition to a task force of local community leaders, Judge Pratt was assisted in the hiring process by Magistrate Lori Morgan who serves on the state’s CASA\/Guardian ad Litem Board. McFarren also supported the appointment. <\/p>\n

Allen County’s CASA is certified with the state and national programs. It operates under the Allen Superior Court Family Relations Division and is funded by state grants and county budgeted funds. McIntosh will lead the CASA staff and volunteers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
