At its July meeting this afternoon, The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority Board of Directors awarded the contract to The Hagerman FBO Design-Build Team.<\/p>\n<p>The project, the first public design-build project undertaken by the Airport Authority, requires the Hagerman team to provide design, construction and equipping of a new state-of-the-art FBO Terminal on the west side of FWA (to replace the existing FBO terminal on the north side of the airport) and associated site work outside of the Airport Operations Area (AOA). The project scope of work also includes functional and aesthetic improvements to existing hangars 2041, 2042, 2043 and their support buildings. In addition, the project also includes master planning site improvements to the General Aviation area entry drive system and implementation of the first phase of the master plan. This work fits within a larger package of projects at FWA.  The cost of the new facility, in addition to the other associated landside improvements, will represent between 3.5 to 4.5 million dollars of airport authority investment.<\/p>\n<p>The new FBO Terminal will house a number of functions including, but not limited to, serving as the point of enplanement or deplanement for passengers on private jets and planes, private pilot rest and planning areas and space for lease to parties requiring a location at FWA.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are honored to have been selected to perform this important work for the Airport Authority,&#8221; said Brad Smith, vice president of Hagerman, Inc. and project executive for this engagement. &#8220;Given the interesting and unique components of this project, we put together a team of trusted partners including SchenkelShultz Architecture &#8211; a full service design firm with a resume that includes over two dozen FBO projects across the country, GAI Consultants, SCO Engineering, New Leaf Sustainability Consulting, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art and others to pursue and win this project. We&#8217;re excited to get started and to complete the project in 3Q 2015.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This project is important for a number of reasons,&#8221; stated Scott Hinderman, director of airports for the Airport Authority. &#8220;Among other things, the new FBO terminal will be the front door to Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana for corporate visitors and other individuals seeing our community for the first time. We sought out and received design and construction ideas from a number of teams.
