Skating ponds remain closed<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(January 3, 2014) – Despite cold temperatures, the skating ponds at Lakeside, East Swinney and Reservoir Parks will remain closed to skaters this weekend. Snow has blanketed the ponds and insulated the ice – preventing a good, thick layer from forming. The Parks & Recreation Department has the red lights and flags at the ponds to indicate that conditions are not safe.<\/p>\n

More reliable ice is available at Headwaters Park during public skating hours. These public skating times are subject to change due to special events, rentals and holidays. <\/p>\n

Residents are asked to stay safe this winter and follow the rules and guidelines of the City and the Parks & Recreation Department. If conditions change, the Department will put out a press release and indicate improved ice at the ponds. <\/p>\n

In the meantime, red lights\/flags are posted at each outdoor ice skating pond. For additional information, call the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department at 260-427-6000 or visit www.fortwayneparks.org.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
