Wherever possible, road restrictions will be removed to ease traffic flow for the influx of holiday drivers.<\/p>\n<p>But INDOT reminds drivers that snow is in the forecast and road conditions could affect your holiday travel plans. Several counties in northern Indiana remain under a Lake Effect Snow Warning through this evening. INDOT&#8217;s top priority is snow and ice removal and through the holiday weekend crews are prepared for a full call-out, 24 hours a day. INDOT uses all available resources to keep roads open, maximize the mobility of the traveling public, and minimize accidents due to winter traveling conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Drivers are encouraged to be prepared before hitting the road for holiday get-togethers.<\/p>\n<p>Be Prepared<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Know the condition of the roads. Get updated on TrafficWise, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/INDOTNortheast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/INDOTNortheast<\/a> and Twitter.com\/INDOTNortheast.<\/li>\n<li>Plan extra travel time to get to your destination<\/li>\n<li>Clear off your vehicle completely before hitting the road (not just the windshield)<\/li>\n<li>Accelerate gradually and brake early to avoid slipping and sliding<\/li>\n<li>Be alert and give other drivers plenty of room<\/li>\n<li>Give INDOT plow crews room to work. It&#8217;s a difficult job and they&#8217;re on the road 24 hours a day to keep you safe.
