29th Annual Festival of Trees begins Nov. 27<\/strong>
\nThe Embassy Theatre is ready for the holiday season with the 29th Annual Festival of Trees themed this year as “Merry & Bright.”<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(November 18, 2013) – The festival opens on Nov. 27 during the Night of Lights celebration in downtown Fort Wayne. Besides the festival opening at 6 p.m. animated window displays along Harrison Street, sponsored by Fort Wayne Metals, Midwest America Federal Credit Union and NIPSCO will be unveiled. <\/p>\n

Inside the Embassy Theatre, 54 beautifully decorated trees from sponsors such as Carson’s, Fort Wayne’s newest department store, Sweetwater Sound, Steel Dynamics and many more. Children will love the Tincaps baseball tree, thrill at the Grande Page Organ tree, where pipes on the tree magically make music, and love the challenge of pedaling fast enough to generate enough energy to light the special LED energy-saving Indiana Michigan powered live Christmas tree. The bicycle tree vividly demonstrates how much more power a standard incandescent bulb uses compared to more energy-efficient lights. Next spring, when you visit a local park, you could see one of these very same I&M sponsored trees from this year’s festival. The live trees will be replanted in parks once the Festival of Trees concludes.<\/p>\n

During Night of Lights the Embassy Stage and A Party Apart will host a “Winter Carnival” with bouncy castles and slides. Additional activities will be provided for the kids from TAG Art Company on Tots and Trees Day, Dec. 4. On the other festival days, the stage is the place for another Festival of Trees tradition–a continuous stream of holiday music and dance, with recitals performed hourly by regional dance groups. <\/p>\n

Santa Land is a joyously decorated area where Santa and Mrs. Claus take residence through the festival, ready to greet children and hear their wish list Santa Land is a kid wonderland with piles of toys, planes and trains, decorated this year by clients of Easter Seals\/ARC. Also new this year, kids will get to sample some peppermint ice cream from locally made Edy’s Grand Ice Cream after their visit. <\/p>\n

This year’s Festival of Trees runs through Dec. 4 and is sponsored in part by Sweetwater Sound, ITT Exelis, Steel Dynamics and Indiana Michigan Power.
