Mad Ants Name Conner Henry as Head Coach<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(October 8, 2013) – The Fort Wayne Mad Ants announced today that they have named Conner Henry as their head coach for the 2013-14 season. <\/p>\n

Henry has 13 years of coaching experience at the collegiate and professional levels, including the NBA Development League, as he has been the assistant coach for the Los Angeles D-Fenders over the past two seasons. Coach Henry helped lead the D-Fenders to an NBA D-League record of 38 regular season wins during the 2011-12 season. Henry also coached eight LA D-Fender players to an NBA Call-Up during the 2011-12 season.<\/p>\n

Prior to joining the D-League, Henry spent several years coaching in the Australian NBL after he had served as an assistant coach at Claremont McKenna College for five years. He served as the assistant coach for the Perth Wildcats (Australian NBL) for three seasons before taking the reigns as head coach during the 2009-10 season. In 2010, Henry joined the Sydney Kings (Australian NBL) as an assistant coach.<\/p>\n

Following a successful college career at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Henry was drafted in the fourth round of the 1986 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. During his NBA career from 1986-88, Henry played for the Rockets, Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings. After his NBA career, he played for the Rapid City Thrillers and Yakima Sun Kings of the CBA and was named MVP of the league in 1990 and 1992. Henry then played professionally overseas in Italy, France, Spain and Greece. <\/p>\n

Henry replaces Duane Ticknor who, after leading the Mad Ants to their first playoff appearance, was hired as an assistant coach for the Memphis Grizzlies. Steve Gansey will resume his role as assistant coach for the Mad Ants. <\/p>\n
