This Saturday, April 11, 2009, Easter Seals Arc of Northeast Indiana will sponsor an Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt at Parkview Field. \u00c2\u00a0Kids ages 2 to 10 are welcome to participate. \u00c2\u00a0You can stop by Parkview Field for tickets or call (260) 482-6400. \u00c2\u00a0From the Easter Seals Arc website:<\/p>\n

Got yolk? Frittatas? Quiches? However you like them, Easter Seals Arc is serving up a healthy dose of protein with decorative eggs, designed by local artists, lost around town only to be found by children and adults alike during a city-wide egg hunt that kicks off in April of 2009. No, this is not the incredible edible egg, but it is EGGSTRAVAGANZA!<\/p>\n

Similar to the Mastodons on Parade, EGGSTRAVAGANZA! is a community wide project, complete with area businesses sponsoring different egg art, local and regional artists designing them, a city-wide egg hunt, and a silent auction with eggs going to the highest bidder and the proceeds going to Easter Seals Arc.<\/p>\n

Steve Hinkle, president of Easter Seals Arc is thrilled about this project and of the endless possibilities it presents to Easter Seals Arc and the community of Fort Wayne. “We wanted a way to increase awareness for Easter Seals Arc and people with disabilities in a fun way. We’ve been doing some research and this struck me as being a win-win; like the cows in Chicago, or the pigs in West Lafayette, or the mighty mastodons of IPFW,” Hinkle said. Everyone involved will benefit somehow. Businesses get the promotional impact of having an egg reflect them, the artists get to use their creativity in a very public way, Easter Seals Arc will garner much awareness in the community, and the city of Fort Wayne benefits by being beautifully decorated by hundreds of eggs!”<\/p>\n

The eggs are made locally by Rockhill Fine Arts Studio, owned by Shad Igney, and are made of Merlin’s Magic, which is more durable than plaster of paris. The eggs weigh over 60 pounds and can be drilled, cut, stained, fired, carved, sanded and painted. They are 15 inches tall and 10 inches across and will truly be works of art.<\/p>\n

On April 11, 2009, youth ages 2 to 10 will be searching for colorful eggs “hidden” within Parkview Field. Each age category can also search for the “golden egg”. Inside this egg will be a very special prize. There will be one per age category. The hunt will be held rain or shine and will begin promptly at the scheduled time for each age group. All children must be accompanied by an adult and bags will be provided.<\/p>\n
