WHO<\/strong>: United Way of Allen County<\/p>\n

WHAT<\/strong>: Salt in His Shoes: An Evening with Deloris Jordan is an event organized by United Way’s Women United to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood education in Allen County. Jordan is co-author of the New York Times Best Seller children’s book, Salt in His Shoes, and mother of Michael Jordan, professional basketball hall of famer.<\/p>\n

This event is open to the public at no cost to attendees. To reserve a seat or for more information, contact 469-4002 or ruthie.krueger@uwacin.org<\/span>.<\/p>\n

WHEN<\/strong>: Tuesday, September 10, 2013, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

WHERE<\/strong>: Public Safety Academy: Ivy Tech South Campus, 7602 Patriot Crossing, Fort Wayne, IN 46816<\/p>\n

WHY<\/strong>: United Way and Women United are dedicated to ensuring children in Allen County are ready for kindergarten by focusing efforts on early childhood education, a critical factor in a child’s success in school and beyond. Longitudinal studies show that children with access to high quality early childhood education are more likely to graduate high school, maintain jobs as adults, and earn higher wages. Salt in His Shoes: An Evening with Deloris Jordan will help raise awareness about the importance of early childhood education.<\/p>\n

The sponsor for the event is Ivy Tech Community College Northeast.<\/p>\n

“As a mother, I’ve tried to teach all of my children, including Michael, the importance of focusing on their education,” shared Jordan. “As a children’s author and philanthropist, I was honored to be invited to speak at United Way’s Women United event, as I know much of their focus is on early childhood education, which is critical to a child’s success down the road.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
