FWCS Employees Pack 300 Backpacks for Students<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(August 7, 2013) – Three hundred students will start the 2013-14 school year with a backpack full of new supplies from Fort Wayne Community Schools employees.<\/p>\n

Several FWCS employees will spend Friday morning packing backpacks with pencils, rulers, markers, personal hygiene products and other necessities. This is the 20th year the employees in the Grile Administrative Center, Maintenance & Operations, Media Services, Nutrition Services, South Transportation, Textbook Rental and the Warehouse have put the bags together for FWCS students.<\/p>\n

The majority of the bags and supplies are purchased with money raised throughout the year by employees who make a donation each week to participate in on Casual Day Fridays.<\/p>\n

This year, Sodexo sponsored 100 filled book bags, allowing FWCS to serve more students than in past years. The project also received significant contributions from Office Max, Follett and Sanford Office Products.<\/p>\n

After the bags are packed on Friday, they will be given to elementary school case managers, who will work with principals to distribute them discreetly to students in need. Those needing assistance with school supplies should contact staff at their child’s school. FWCS also works with a number of other outside organizations to assist our many students in need.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
