Victim<\/strong>: Adult Male \/ Deceased<\/p>\n

(August 3, 2013) – On Saturday, August 03, 2013, at 7:16 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of Hayden St. and McCulloch St. on a report of an accident with injuries. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male who was unconscious and unresponsive. The male was declared to be in critical condition by medics, who transported the male to a local hospital in critical condition. The male was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.<\/p>\n

At this time, it is believed that the male was driving an SUV westbound on Hayden St, and as he approached McCulloch St, the male attempted to pass a box truck that was also traveling westbound. As the SUV passed the box truck, the SUV side swiped the box truck, and then drove into a tree. At this point, it is unknown what exactly caused the SUV to drive into the tree. It is unknown if the impact with the box truck caused this, or if any other factors played a role. The driver of the box truck and its passenger were uninjured. At this time no other witnesses have come forward. There were no other vehicles involved in this accident.<\/p>\n

It is currently unknown if alcohol or speed played a factor in the accident. Investigators from the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team are currently investigating the accident, searching for any evidence or witnesses. Anyone who was in the area and may have seen something is encouraged to contact police.<\/p>\n

Hayden St. from Winter St. to Ohio St. remains closed as the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (F.A.C.T) investigates the incident and processes the scene. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.<\/p>\n
