(July 17, 2013) &#8211; U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman spoke on the House floor today urging his colleagues to delay and repeal ObamaCare&#8217;s individual and employer mandates.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"Mt_ldQ4YoEM\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Mt_ldQ4YoEM?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mr. Speaker, Mr. Harry Reid might have said that ObamaCare is \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcwonderful for America&#8217; but Hoosiers back home aren&#8217;t buying the spin.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;ObamaCare was sold as a benefit to hardworking Americans but it is increasingly clear on both sides of the aisle that ObamaCare is hurting the very people it was intended to help. There is nothing wonderful about the situation hardworking Americans face\u00e2\u20ac\u201dfewer hours, more taxes, soaring premiums, and smaller paychecks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcJust trust the bureaucrats&#8217; is what Democrats said when they forced this mess on the American people. Three years later, they&#8217;re asking for more time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By unilaterally delaying the employer mandate for a year, the White House admitted what Hoosiers already know. If they&#8217;re willing to exempt businesses, shouldn&#8217;t every hardworking family get an exemption as well?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Let&#8217;s delay both of ObamaCare&#8217;s mandates and continue to work towards fully repealing a failed law that is hurting Hoosiers and Americans across the country and holding back our economy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This evening, the House will consider legislation to delay ObamaCare&#8217;s individual and employer mandate. Indiana Congressman Todd Young introduced H.R. 2668, the Fairness for American Families Act, which would delay for another year ObamaCare&#8217;s mandate that individuals purchase health coverage.<\/li>\n<li>Earlier today, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman during a House Financial Services Committee hearing that the dramatic increase of part-time workers due to ObamaCare does have an effect on the Fed&#8217;s employment mandate but declined to comment on delaying implementation of the law.
