Parkview’s Community Health Improvement Partnership with Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana Reaches $1,000,000<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(Feb. 22, 2013) – Parkview Community Health Improvement has announced the distribution of financial donations of more than $1 million in support of Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. With financial support stemming from Parkview Regional Medical Center, Parkview Hospital Randallia, Parkview Huntington Hospital, Parkview Lagrange Hospital, Parkview Noble Hospital and Parkview Whitley Hospital, Parkview’s Community Health Improvement has distributed $1,080,647 with additional funds committed to be distributed throughout 2013.<\/p>\n

“The services offered by Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana are incredibly important for the individuals and families touched by cancer in our community, ” said Sue Ehinger, president, Parkview Hospital and affiliates. “The needs of cancer patients and their support system extend beyond diagnosis and treatment and we are thankful to have an organization in northeast Indiana that can provide additional resources to meet our patients where they are.”<\/p>\n

Since 2000, Parkview Community Health Improvement has partnered with Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana as part of its commitment to support and improve the health of our communities. Parkview’s partnership with Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana focuses on the importance of providing free to low-cost support services through the Client Advocate program. The Client Advocate program is made possible by donations and provides emotional support, practical and meaningful resources, information, and compassionate assistance to those in Northeast Indiana diagnosed with cancer and their families. In 2012, Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana used Parkview’s funds specifically to provide durable medical equipment, supply health items, cases of nutritional drinks, wigs, turbans, and scarfs to those cancer patients in need throughout the surrounding communities.<\/p>\n

“Over the past decade, Parkview has been a significant supporter in working towards our mission to enhance the quality of life of those affected by cancer,” said Dianne May, president & CEO, Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. “This partnership allows our organization to come alongside and provide for the wide array of needs that cancer patients and their families experience throughout their journey.”<\/p>\n

As the region’s only not-for-profit health system, Parkview believes in building a healthy community and improving the quality of life for those in Northeast Indiana. To achieve this mission, Parkview reinvests a percentage of their annual operating surplus back into the community through other not-for-profit, community-focused organizations. These partnerships are managed through the Parkview Community Health Improvement program.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
