Summit City Chef 2012 Competition Set for Sept. 13<\/strong>
\nOne-of-a-kind event at Sycamore Hills to benefit Fort Wayne Children’s Foundation<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(Aug. 10, 2012) – A competition among Fort Wayne’s top chefs will produce award-winning dishes as well as money needed to defend the
\ncommunity’s abused and neglected children.<\/p>\n

For the second year, the Fort Wayne Children’s Foundation will host its “Summit City Chef” competition at Sycamore Hills Country Club. The event takes place at 6 p.m. on Sept. 13. Tickets are $200 per person ($2,000 per table), with proceeds going to support the foundation.<\/p>\n

“We have a unique job: To raise money to support those who help abused and neglected children,” said Byron Braun, Fort Wayne Children’s Foundation president. “That deserves an event that is equally unique. You will find nothing like Summit City Chef in Fort Wayne. We are grateful for the support the community has shown for the job we do and we look forward to putting on a great show.”<\/p>\n

Summit City Chef will feature many of the community’s top culinary professionals in an “Iron Chef” style competition. The program debuted in 2011, drawing approximately 170 people to Sycamore Hills to see Executive Chef Bun Lim from Sycamore Hills Country Club win the title prize of “Summit City Chef.” Also to be awarded are trophies for the Summit City’s best dessert and best wine.<\/p>\n

Participating executive chefs will also include Brian Shreffler (Chop’s), Jesse Arnold (Club Soda), Matthew Nolot (Eddie Merlot’s) and
\nTiercell Schwartz (T W Fable).<\/p>\n

Emcees for the event will be Linda Jackson of Indiana’s NewsCenter and Charlie Butcher of WOWO Radio. Celebrity judges are Cindy Larson, features writer for The News-Sentinel; Charles Shepard III, Executive Director of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art; and Chuck and Lisa Surack of Sweetwater Sound.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1997, the Fort Wayne Children’s Foundation’s mission is to break he ravages of the “circle of abuse,” enabling children to help achieve their fullest potential. The foundation raises funds and contributes to agencies involved in and dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect and to counseling and treating abused children and their families.<\/p>\n
