Ride for the Red Blood Drive at Wing Ding 34<\/strong>
\nRiders invited to Help Save Lives<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Motorcyclists from across North America will come together to celebrate Wing Ding 34 in Fort Wayne and the Ride for the Red Blood Drive is a part of this year’s celebration! Riders will take time from their event to help the community by giving the gift of life to those in need.<\/p>\n

All presenting donors will receive a commemorative Red Cross bandana as well as a special patriotic lapel pin. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or going to redcrossblood.org and entering sponsor code “WingDing”.<\/p>\n

A blood donation around Independence Day can also help strengthen America’s blood supply. Blood donations typically slump during the summer when many donors are out of their day-to-day routines, and when student donors are on break. High school and college-age donors give up to 20 percent of the blood collected through the Red Cross.<\/p>\n

Summer travel and activities can also result in accidents that require immediate and intensive medical care. A person with severe injuries from an auto accident may need from 40 to 100 units of blood.<\/p>\n

The 2012 Ride for the Red Wing Ding Blood Drive will take place at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Thursday, July 5, and Friday, July 6, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

Wing Ding 34 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum will feature more than 30 acres of on-site parking, an 8,000 seat arena, over 150,000 square feet of air-conditioned exhibit space and plenty of outdoor space for the manufacturer demonstrations and much more so that all daily events will be in one place!<\/p>\n

How to Donate Blood<\/strong>
\nTo schedule an appointment to donate please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org<\/span> for more information. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in Indiana), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate.<\/p>\n
