LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS WILL FOLLOW LATE TONIGHT AND PERSIST THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING. HEAVY SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE OVER SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN AND PORTIONS OF NORTHERN INDIANA&#8230;WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS EXPECTED OVER BERRIEN&#8230;CASS AND NORTHERN LAPORTE COUNTIES&#8230; WHERE SNOW AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF 10 INCHES ARE LIKELY&#8230;WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS NEAR 15 INCHES POSSIBLE. PORTIONS OF NORTHERN INDIANA GENERALLY NORTH OF HIGHWAY 6 WILL SEE BETWEEN 8 TO 12 INCHES WHILE AREAS FURTHER SOUTH SHOULD SEE BETWEEN 4 TO 8 INCHES. IN ADDITION&#8230;STRONG GUSTY WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED BEGINNING LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON&#8230;WITH WIDESPREAD BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW LIKELY ALONG WITH AREAS OF HIGHLY REDUCED VISIBILITIES. TRAVEL WILL BECOME DIFFICULT OVER SECTIONS OF INTERSTATE 94&#8230;THE TOLL ROAD AND MANY STATE ROADS ACROSS THE AREA. THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY RELATED TO INTENSITY AND PLACEMENT OF THE LAKE EFFECT SNOW BANDS FRIDAY&#8230;WHICH WILL ULTIMATELY DICTATE EVENTUAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS. LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT. LISTEN TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR LOCAL MEDIA FOR LATER UPDATES.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;] WHITLEY-ALLEN IN-WABASH-HUNTINGTON-WELLS-ADAMS-GRANT-BLACKFORD-JAY-<\/p>\n<p>INCLUDING THE CITIES OF&#8230;COLUMBIA CITY&#8230;TRI-LAKES&#8230;SOUTH WHITLEY&#8230;FORT WAYNE&#8230;NEW HAVEN&#8230;WABASH&#8230;NORTH MANCHESTER&#8230;HUNTINGTON&#8230;ROANOKE&#8230;BLUFFTON&#8230;OSSIAN&#8230;DECATUR&#8230;BERNE&#8230;MARION&#8230;GAS CITY&#8230;UPLAND&#8230;HARTFORD CITY&#8230;MONTPELIER&#8230;PORTLAND&#8230;DUNKIRK<\/p>\n<p>421 AM EST THU JAN 12 2012<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 1 PM EST FRIDAY&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW&#8230;WHICH IS IN<br \/>\nEFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 1 PM EST FRIDAY.<\/p>\n<p>HAZARDOUS WEATHER&#8230;<\/p>\n<p> * SNOW WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND BECOME MODERATE AT TIMES TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING.<\/p>\n<p> * ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES ARE LIKELY BY FRIDAY AFTERNOON.<\/p>\n<p> * STRONG WESTERLY WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL CAUSE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.<\/p>\n<p>IMPACTS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p> * HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ON AREA ROADS.
