Photo taken August, 2007.\" rel=\"lightbox\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/28711.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/t28711.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.journalgazette.net\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=2009901199939&amp;NL=1\">Journal Gazette<\/span> is reporting that the Scott&#8217;s at 5300 Decatur Road is closing February 14th. \u00c2\u00a0Happy Valentine&#8217;s Day! \u00c2\u00a0The closing was announced to the store&#8217;s 64 employees this morning at 9:30 am. \u00c2\u00a0This is coming on the heels of <a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2009\/01\/15\/kroger-adding-jobs-75-million-investment\/\">last week&#8217;s announcement<\/a> of remodelings, 3 new stores, 3 store closings and\u00c2\u00a0$75 million in investment along with 250 additional jobs coming to the region.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The JG states that Kroger&#8217;s reasons for the closing are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First, the projected cost of remodeling the store to current standards was too high to make it a sound investment.<\/li>\n<li>Second, the nearby Kroger store was remodeled in 2006 at a cost of $1.7 million.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It also adds that Kroger has stated there will be no other announcements in the short term &#8211; whatever that means.<\/p>\n<p>The question now becomes &#8211; <strong>what will be done with the cornucopia?? \u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>Will ARCH step in and try to save the sign?<\/p>\n<h3>Related Images:<\/h3><div class=\"ngg-related-gallery\">\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/gallery\/assorted-photos\/4543.jpg\"\n\t\t\ttitle=\"The William Wells ARCH Marker at the northeast corner of the Griswold Drive and Tennessee Avenue intersection.
