{"id":2693,"date":"2009-01-17T20:12:27","date_gmt":"2009-01-18T01:12:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/?p=2693"},"modified":"2020-12-25T19:55:48","modified_gmt":"2020-12-26T00:55:48","slug":"it-consolidation-moves-forward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2009\/01\/17\/it-consolidation-moves-forward\/","title":{"rendered":"IT Consolidation Moves Forward"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/icons\/tFWseal.jpg\" alt=\"City of Fort Wayne Seal\" width=\"95\" height=\"95\" \/>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m a little late with this, but nonetheless, from Allen County:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Action taken today (December 19th 2008) by the Allen County Board of Commissioners could eventually lead to a consolidated Information Technology Department with the City of Fort Wayne.  The Commissioners approved an interlocal agreement with the city to begin negotiating a new city-county IT department and the operational services it would provide.\u00c2\u00a0 The agreement must still be acted on by the city.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Under a plan developed by Premis Consulting Group, a seven-member governing board would oversee the joint department.\u00c2\u00a0 That group would consist of three county representatives, three city representatives, and a local judge.\u00c2\u00a0 Also, a ten-member steering committee would be formed to help develop policies and set priorities for the department.\u00c2\u00a0 It would consist of five county representatives and five city representatives.\u00c2\u00a0 Overseeing day-to-day management of the department would be a Chief Information Officer, hired by the governing board, and a Chief Technology Officer who would be hired by the eventual CIO.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Local government IT consolidation is a growing and positive trend,&#8221; said Ed Steenman, Allen County IT Director.\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;A combined IT department would simplify the organization by producing one cohesive strategic vision, plan and direction for Allen County and the City of Fort Wayne.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Starting January 1, city and county IT operations service delivery will be handled under one joint contract with Atos Origin.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/tag\/atos-origin-it-services\/\">ATOS related posts<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Related Images:<\/h3><div class=\"ngg-related-gallery\">\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/gallery\/cityoffw\/148369.jpg\"\n\t\t\ttitle=\"Mayor Tom Henry at a news conference about TechFest on April 14, 2011.
