Indiana Republican Mayors Endorse Lugar<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(June 30, 2011) – U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar today announced the endorsement of 24 Republican Mayors throughout Indiana. Lugar has also received the endorsement of six former Republican Mayors and three 2011 Republican Mayoral candidates.<\/p>\n

“I appreciate the support of these mayors who are on the front line of job creation, economic development, budget balancing, and service to their communities,” Lugar said. “Many Mayors serve as the CEO and CFO of their community, and thus are well attuned to the important issues of the day. We try to help each municipality, county and town with their economic development needs. We will continue to work together on creative approaches in developing the best climate to help grow businesses and develop Hoosier communities.”<\/p>\n

“I have admired Dick Lugar’s political service as both a mayor and Senator to Indiana’s citizens. He connects with the issues Hoosiers are facing daily and draws on his expertise to better our communities. Senator Lugar is well respected and highly regarded as a statesman, both at home and abroad,” said Mishawaka Mayor David Wood, whose statement of endorsement reflected the view of many of mayors.<\/p>\n
