This is the 30th anniversary of Germanfest in Fort Wayne. \u00c2\u00a0The Festival Pavilion & Bier tent opens today.<\/p>\n

11:00 a.m. – Jay Fox on the Headwaters Park Festival Pavilion Stage<\/p>\n

10:30 am to Midnight – Doors Open at the Headwaters Park Festival Plaza<\/strong><\/p>\n

11:00 a.m. – Official Opening Ceremony Germanfest 2011<\/strong>, Festival Pavilion Stage
\nIt’s Wunderbar! Germanfest 2011 marks the 30th Anniversary of our annual event; come down and celebrate! We invite all local and visiting dignitaries, sponsors, and the public to participate in this traditional opening ceremony. Attend the ceremonies, enjoy the music, and dine on fine German food (the traditional brats hot off the grill, homemade sauerkraut, German potato salad, kuchen for dessert.<\/p>\n

11:30 a.m. City-wide Chicken Dance<\/strong>, Festival Pavilion Stage; On-air: Fun 101.7 WLDE
\n101.7 WLDE kicks off Germanfest with a city-wide “chicken dance”! Wherever you are, be sure your radio is set to 101.7 WLDE at 11:30AM so you, your co-workers, students, family and friends can all do a simultaneous chicken dance, broadcast live from the Germanfest tent at Headwaters Park. Then, we’ll follow with what might be the world’s largest chicken dance, led by the Money Monkey. Listen to 101.7 WLDE for all of the fun!<\/p>\n

12 noon to 9:00 p.m. – Fun Daily Activities<\/strong>, Headwaters Park Festival Plaza
\nFun Festival Kiddie Rides by Miller Family Amusements (Noon-8:00PM)
\nPaint it German face painting by Sweetcakes Comedy Entertainment Company.
\nBalloons to the Moon: unusual and unique ballon sculpting by Kevin Harris.<\/p>\n

12:15 p.m. – Germanfest Organ Concert<\/strong> at the First Wayne Street UM Church, 300 E Wayne St
\nGeoffrey North, director of music & organist, will perform selections by various German composers on the famed Beckerath tracker organ, the only installation of its type from Hamburg, Germany in Indiana.<\/p>\n

1:00 p.m. \u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 5:00 p.m. \u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 9:00 p.m. Ferkel Wurst Stuffin (Baby Pig Sausage Stuffing!)<\/strong>, Festival Pavilion Stage
\nThree teams of two players compete against each other and the clock to be the first to stuff a sausage “casing” full of pink plush toy piglets. All participants win great prizes! 1st game for ages 6-8 years, 2nd game for ages 9-12; and 3rd game for the grownups. Come see who has the most fun! Sign up to play at the information booth at the Germanfest main entrance or just be at the main stage at the designated times to show your stuff! Free to play!<\/p>\n
