Mayor Tom Henry launches re-election campaign with over 350 supporters<\/strong>
\nMayor’s record of accomplishments have kept city strong, running for re-election to keep Fort Wayne moving forward<\/em><\/p>\n

(April 27, 2011) – Tonight, Mayor Tom Henry launched his campaign by hosting a Campaign Kickoff spaghetti dinner with over 350 supporters. Addressing a packed house, Henry spoke about his accomplishments as Mayor and his commitment to keep Fort Wayne moving forward.<\/p>\n

“As your mayor, I’ve spent the last four years working hard to keep Fort Wayne on the path to a brighter tomorrow,” said Henry. “In these tough times, we’ve kept our city finances strong, held spending flat, delivered outstanding city services and created an environment where businesses can create good paying jobs for residents. I’m running for re-election to continue the work that we’ve started, to keep our city on the road to prosperity, and to keep Fort Wayne moving forward.”<\/p>\n

Over 350 residents attended the Campaign Kickoff dinner, packing the Lantern Reception Hall and demonstrating Mayor Henry’s strong support across the city. Patricia Doerr, a retired school teacher who lives in southwest Fort Wayne, said she’s voting for Mayor Henry because he’s been working hard to make sure Fort Wayne families are thriving.<\/p>\n

“I know Mayor Henry is working everyday to make our city a better place for residents, neighborhoods and families” said Doerr. “I’m proud to be here supporting his campaign, and I’ve already cast my vote for Tom.”<\/p>\n

In his speech, Mayor Henry highlighted several of his accomplishments over the last three years, including:<\/p>\n

\n[li]Keeping city finances strong: balancing the budget three years running, fully funding city services, holding spending flat, keeping the city on track to pay down nearly 30 percent of the debt, and maintaining the city’s excellent credit rating.[\/li]
\n[li]Delivering outstanding city services, from snow removal to street construction: the city has built and repaired hundreds of miles of new roads, secured a new revenue generating recycling contract, and delivered first class utility services at competitive prices.[\/li]
\n[li]Creating an environment that attracts business, helps existing companies expand and promotes job creation: Investing in infrastructure and streamlining the permitting process by moving to Citizen Square — a move that cut red tape for businesses, developers and residents, while rolling out the welcome mat to new investment.[\/li]
