Parkview to host upcoming events<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(March 29, 2011) – Parkview will host several upcoming events.<\/p>\n

Parkview’s Brain Injury Support Group<\/strong> will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, April 4 at the John F. Young Auditorium, across from Parkview Hospital’s Randallia campus. The featured topic will be behavior consulting and management services for people with brain injury. The meeting is free.<\/p>\n

The Parkview Diabetes Treatment Center will lead a community forum on diabetes<\/strong> at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 at the Allen County Public Library’s downtown branch, 900 Library Plaza. The featured topic will be benefits and risks of herbal and dietary supplements and over the counter medications. For more information, call (260) 373-4280.<\/p>\n

Parkview Health & Fitness Center<\/strong>, 3000 E. State Blvd., will host a free program from 1-2:15 p.m. Monday, April 18. Guests will participate in exercises aimed at improving strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance. Reservations are required by calling (260) 373-4151.<\/p>\n

The programs below will be held at the Parkview Women’s Health Center on the Parkview North campus, entrance 2. Registration is required by calling (260) 672-6500.<\/p>\n

Foot and Nail Care Nail and skin care services for your feet<\/strong>. Ideal for people with diabetes, circulation problems and arthritic conditions. $20 for Women’s Health Center members and $30 for non-members.<\/p>\n

Exploring the Truth About Body Image and Self-Esteem<\/strong> 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 14
\nExperts will share stories of struggles against eating disorders and discuss how relationships are affected by these diseases and how thoughts influence behaviors. Guests will learn ways to enhance body image and improve self-esteem. Free for Women’s Health Center members and $5 for non-members.<\/p>\n

Osteoporosis Screening<\/strong> 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19<\/p>\n

The screening lasts 15 minutes and can provide valuable information. $5 for Women’s Health Center members and $10 for non-members.<\/p>\n

Foot Screenings with Dr. Michael McManus<\/strong>, Ortho NorthEast Noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20<\/p>\n

For people experiencing pain, difficulty walking, changes in foot structure, or any condition of the skin or nails. Free for Women’s Health Center members and $5 for non-members.<\/p>\n

Understanding the Impact of Overuse and Misuse of Antibiotics<\/strong> 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 21<\/p>\n

Shannon Matsko, pharmacist, Parkview Hospital, will share information on the limitations of antibiotics. The widespread use and sometimes overuse of antibiotics have enabled organisms to adapt to the antibiotics they were designed to eliminate. People infected with antimicrobial-resistant organisms are more likely to get sicker, experience longer hospital stays and have an increased risk of death. The event is free for Women’s Health Center members and $5 for non-members.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
