IPFW “Shatters the Silence” with Annual Vigil for Non-violence<\/strong><\/p>\n

(March 31, 2011) – Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) will host an annual candlelight vigil to support the cause of
\nending violence toward women. Coordinators of “Take Back the Night: Shatter the Silence\u00e2\u20ac\u201dStop the Violence” invite the community to
\nparticipate Thursday, April 7, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The evening includes a half-mile walk around campus, beginning at The Clubhouse on the\u00c2\u00a0Waterfield Campus and ending at the Liberal Arts Building, where Tena Dellaca-Hedrick will speak.<\/p>\n

Dellaca-Hedrick is a victim advocate for the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center. She is an adjunct professor at Indiana Tech and
\nteaches victimology for the criminal justice department. She also has served as a victim advocate with the Fort Wayne Police Department. She will discuss “Sexual Violence as a Human Issue: Turning Pain into Purpose.”<\/p>\n

Participants will receive a free t-shirt and pizza at the conclusion of the walk. “Take Back the Night” is sponsored by the IPFW Women’s
\nStudies Program, Center for Women and Returning Adults, Indiana-Purdue Student Government Association, and Women of the World.<\/p>\n
