{"id":17760,"date":"2011-03-07T12:03:27","date_gmt":"2011-03-07T17:03:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/?p=17760"},"modified":"2011-03-07T12:03:27","modified_gmt":"2011-03-07T17:03:27","slug":"bids-opened-for-ccb-asbestos-abatement-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2011\/03\/07\/bids-opened-for-ccb-asbestos-abatement-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Bids opened for CCB asbestos abatement project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/icons\/AC_seal.jpg\" alt=\"Allen County Board of Commissioners Seal\" \/><\/p>\n<p>News release from the Allen County Board of Commissioners:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Bids Opened for CCB Asbestos Abatement Project<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Commissioners expected to award contract March 11<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>(March 2, 2011) &#8211; Four companies submitted bids today to remove asbestos-containing materials from the City-County Building as part of a major renovation project.<\/p>\n<p>The bids will be evaluated by environmental consultant ACM Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc. and a recommendation is expected to be presented to the Allen County Board of Commissioners at its March 11 legislative session.<\/p>\n<p>The companies submitting proposals and their base bids were:<\/p>\n<p>[list type=&#8221;black&#8221;]<br \/>\n[li]Specialty Systems, Inc., Indianapolis, $498,000;[\/li]<br \/>\n[li]Environmental Management Specialists, Inc., Huntertown, $902,539;[\/li]<br \/>\n[li]Environmental Assurance Co., Inc., Indianapolis, $972,700; and[\/li]<br \/>\n[li]Midwest Construction Services, LLC, St. John, Indiana, $1,015,000[\/li]<br \/>\n[\/list]<\/p>\n<p>Each company also submitted bids for five additional alternatives to the base project. Bids on the actual renovation of the County-owned City-County Building will be opened tomorrow. The work is expected to start later in the spring once renovation of the City-owned building at 200 East Berry Street is finished.<\/p>\n<p>The abatement of asbestos-containing materials will involve areas of the CCB directly affected by the renovation project. Those materials include floor tile and adhesive, transite wall panels, fireproofing material and thermal system insulation.<\/p>\n<p>Recent air sample results of the 40-year-old City-County Building were below permissible exposure limits for asbestos.
