Stutzman Votes for Short Term Budget Cutting<\/strong><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
(Washington D.C. – March 1, 2011) – The House voted today to extend the budget by two weeks, through March 18th, while making $4 Billion in cuts. With the passage of $100 Billion in cuts for the remained of FY 2011 last week and passing this short term extension the House has taken the first steps in lowering deficit spending. The Continuing Resolution will defer the limited government shutdown for two weeks and allow time for the Senate and the House to create a budget for the remainder of the year.<\/p>\n
“This two week extension starts us down the right path by making spending cuts, but we cannot continue to make extension after extension as this will not send the right message to the job creators in America.” Stutzman said. “This resolution sends the message that this is not about shutting down the government. It is about cutting spending and getting the budget under control when things get tight.”<\/p>\n
Congressman Stutzman represents the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana and serves on the House Committee on Agriculture, the House Committee on the Budget and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity. Indiana’s 3rd District contains all of DeKalb, Kosciusko, Lagrange, Noble, Steuben and Whitley counties; as well as parts of Allen and Elkhart counties.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
