IPFW Distinguished Lecture Series Explores “The Causes of Terrorism: No Single Explanation”<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(February 18, 2011) – The Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Lecturer Series will host James M. Lutz, Ph.D., professor and chair of the IPFW Department of Political Science. He will present “The Causes of
\nTerrorism: No Single Explanation,” Wednesday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Neff Hall, Room 101. The lecture is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

Since 1999 Lutz’s research has been focused primarily in the area of global terrorism. He has authored or co-authored ten books and more than 70 articles and book chapters, including with Brenda J. Lutz as a co-author, a textbook entitled Global Terrorism, Terrorism: Origins and
\nEvolution, and Terrorism in America. He also compiled a four-volume collection of articles and chapters on terrorism, Global Terrorism. Another book written with Brenda J. Lutz, Terrorism: The Basics, will be published in 2011.<\/p>\n

Lutz has made presentations to the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C.; the senior class at the Foreign Service Institute in
\nSouth Africa; the Institute for Security Studies in Pretoria, South Africa; and the South African Defence Intelligence College. In 2007 he was the recipient of the IPFW Outstanding Research Award and was the 2005 Richard Lugar Scholar.<\/p>\n
