Cookie Cottage Sweetens Blood Donation Opportunity<\/strong>

Helping to save a life is a little sweeter during the American Red Cross’ Life is Sweet Blood Drive in February. Come to donate from Feb. 24-26 at the Fort Wayne and Lutheran Hospital Donor Centers and receive a Cookie Cottage cookie and be entered into a drawing for a pair of tickets to the March 24 Miranda Lambert\/Justin Moore\/Josh Kelley concert at the Memorial Coliseum. Concert tickets are compliments of U.S. 93.3.<\/p>\n
The Life is Sweet Blood Drive will take place at two convenient locations in Fort Wayne from Thursday, Feb. 24 until Saturday, Feb. 26.<\/p>\n

Consistent and steady blood donations are needed year-round to meet patient need. And while the need for blood is constant, blood donations can sometimes slump. Collecting blood during the winter, for instance, often presents a challenge since cold and snowy weather can prevent donors from making and keeping appointments.<\/p>\n

\nTo schedule an appointment to donate please call 1 -800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org for more information. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate.<\/p>\nAbout the American Red Cross<\/strong>
\nThe Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region serves northern and central Indiana and northwestern Ohio, and needs to collect about 500 units of blood a day to meet patient need in more than 60 hospitals. In addition to providing blood to our community, the American Red Cross also provides relief to victims of disaster, trains millions in lifesaving skills, serves as a communication link between U.S. military members and their families, and assists victims of international disasters or conflicts.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
