Guyott: General Assembly should focus on working families; growing Indiana’s economy<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(INDIANAPOLIS, January 4, 2011) – As the Indiana General Assembly prepares to convene tomorrow, Indiana State AFL-CIO President Nancy Guyott released the following statement today:<\/p>\n

“As thousands of Hoosiers continue to struggle to find work, feed and clothe their families, keep their homes and plan for increasingly uncertain futures, we urge the members of the General Assembly to put aside partisan differences and come together to achieve real progress for Indiana’s working families.<\/p>\n

Economic progress is not a partisan issue. It’s not a choice between labor and management and it is not about taking sides. It is a process that moves us all forward, together.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the 300,000 members of the Indiana State AFL-CIO, we pledge to work with the administration and the members of state legislature to grow our economy and ensure that all working people share in the wealth they help create.”<\/p>\n

The Indiana State AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations) is a federation of 800 local unions across the state belonging to 50 International Unions. In total, the Indiana State AFL-CIO represents more than 300,000 working Hoosiers.<\/p>\n
