Habitat for Humanity dedicated home just in time for Christmas<\/strong>
\n14 churches come together in the Apostle Build to serve 1 family<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
(December 13, 2010) – Seven churches of Fort Wayne and seven churches of Monroeville have come together to sponsor a habitat home build. The public is invited to attend the dedication of James Hopper and Kari Voirol’s home, located at 305 Elm Street, Monroeville on Friday, December 17 at 12 Noon. There will be a short blessing of the house and opportunities to tour the house before and after the dedication. For the third year, Anchor Community Church, Calvary Third Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church, First Assembly of God, Grace Presbyterian Church, Resurrection Lutheran Church and St Joe United Methodist Church have sponsored an apostle build. In addition, seven Monroeville churches, Cornerstone Youth Center, East Liberty United Methodist Church, Monroeville Nazarene Church, St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, Christian Center, Hope United Methodist, and St. Rose Catholic Church, purchased the land for James Hopper and Kari Voirol’s home and helped in the physical build.<\/p>\n
The Hopper and Voirol family has put in 300 hours of “sweat equity,” doing everything from helping with construction to volunteering at the Habitat Restore. James and Kari have four children ranging from 10 months to 11 years old.<\/p>\n
“Anchor is thankful to be part of the Habitat build for James Hopper and Kari Voirol, thankful for the opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ to them, and thankful to help James and Kari dedicate their new home just in time for Christmas,” said Pastor Timothy Hallman of Anchor Community Church.<\/p>\n
“Habitat’s first build in Monroeville has been a very unique and powerful experience. The build is our annual Apostle Build in partnership with many Fort Wayne area churches, but it also turned out to be collaboration with the Monroeville\/Hoagland area churches also pooling their resources to provide the basic needs for one very special family. A great example of the Lord and His people working together in outreach, and share His love with others in need, “said Executive Director of Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity, Justin Berger.<\/p>\n

About Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity<\/strong>
\nFort Wayne Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)3 non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that uses volunteer labor to build simple, affordable homes through partnerships with low-income Allen County families. Once completed the homes are sold to the family with a $500 down payment and at no profit on a 20-year, interest-free mortgage. Because of volunteer involvement, the cost of a standard three-bedroom home is kept affordable at approximately $65,000, with the monthly mortgage payment around $350, which includes taxes and insurance. Mortgage payments are then reinvested in the community in the form of additional housing opportunities.<\/p>\nWhat is an Apostle Build?<\/strong>
\nAn Apostle Build is one where several churches join together to sponsor and build a Habitat house. It is a wonderful experience as churches of different denominations come together and work for a common goal. An Apostles Build project calls people to leave the halls of the church, and be the body of Christ in their community and change their world.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
