{"id":158,"date":"2008-01-25T01:12:36","date_gmt":"2008-01-25T06:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/?p=158"},"modified":"2020-12-24T14:11:34","modified_gmt":"2020-12-24T19:11:34","slug":"harrison-square-news-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2008\/01\/25\/harrison-square-news-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"Harrison Square News Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><strong>Tuesday<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The Embassy Theatre Foundation announced the walkway between the Embassy Theatre and the new hotel component of the Harrison Square project will be named in memory of Robert Goldstine.\u00c2\u00a0 The Robert Goldstine Foundation contributed the $550,000 to the project.\u00c2\u00a0 The City will pay the remaining $1.3 million for the project which will include a new elevator, stairwell and a separate elevator shaft.\u00c2\u00a0 This according to the <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.jg.net\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20080123\/LOCAL\/801230329\/1002\/LOCAL\">Journal Gazette<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Also on Tuesday, the Fort Wayne City Council appointed two new Redevelopment Commission members.\u00c2\u00a0 Tom Obergfell of Tower Bank and Casey Cox, an attorney with Beers Mallers Backs &amp; Salin will replace David Wright and Steve McElhoe.\u00c2\u00a0 Read the <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.jg.net\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20080123\/LOCAL\/801230312\">Journal Gazette article<\/span> for more details.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Wednesday<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Mayor Tom Henry puts his $1,000 down on a condo in the Harrison.\u00c2\u00a0 The media reported this as the 55th unit reserved and the Journal Gazette quoted Bill Martin, Martin Goldstine Knapke, as saying no one had asked for their money back.\u00c2\u00a0 However, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2007\/12\/21\/the-harrison-55-gone\/\">December 21st Journal Gazette,<\/a> it was stated 55 had been sold.\u00c2\u00a0 The Mayor&#8217;s should have been number 56?\u00c2\u00a0 Not sure at this point.\u00c2\u00a0 <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.jg.net\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20080124\/LOCAL\/801240314\">Journal Gazette<\/span> and <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.news-sentinel.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20080124\/NEWS\/801240324\">News Sentinel<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0articles.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Thursday<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">An open house was held for local realtors to tout the Harrison and opportunities.\u00c2\u00a0 WANE-TV quoted Mike Brita as stating 56 units had been reserved.\u00c2\u00a0 The process of siging contracts should begin with the next week and at that point, the next phase of the Harrison Square project could be triggered.\u00c2\u00a0 The second and third phases of the project include more\u00c2\u00a0retail space and condominiums.\u00c2\u00a0 These\u00c2\u00a0will be built along Baker Street in the current Lincoln Financial Group Parking Lots, including the temporary lot constructed along Baker and Ewing Street.\u00c2\u00a0 Work on these phases will not be able to begin until after the new Parking Garage is built along Douglas Avenue and Harrison Street.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Brad Sturges from Developer CB Richard Ellis stated that,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;[we&#8217;ve talked] to dozens of tenants.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Many are recognizing this as a very unique project that they rarely come across, which is helping gain the attention of some great potential tenants,&#8221; said Brad Sturges.<\/p>\n<p>Those tenants include night clubs, to high end restaurants, and convenience stores&#8230; but none of the names of those tenants will be announced until a contract has been signed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It still remains to be seen what\u00c2\u00a0convenience store will pay $32 per square foot to rent retail space.\u00c2\u00a0 If they did, I would hate to have to pay the prices they will need to pay their overhead.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 WANE-TV story.<\/p>\n<h3>Related Images:<\/h3><div class=\"ngg-related-gallery\">\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/gallery\/fw-redevelopment\/70496.jpg\"\n\t\t\ttitle=\"Jim Irwin, Barry Real Estate, leads a tour of Redevelopment Authority and Commission members around the Parkview Field.
