M*A*S*H* star visits Fort Wayne to speak on human rights issues<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (November 20, 2010) – Mike Farrell, the actor best known for roles on M*A*S*H* and Providence, will highlight the closing events of 2010 for the Indiana Center for Middle East Peace.<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n

He will speak about his life, his career in TV and film, and his service on behalf of human rights around the globe at a dinner sponsored by the Indiana CMEP on Saturday, December 4 at Autumn Ridge Country Club, 11420 Auburn Road.<\/p>\n

Farrell’s talk, “From Actor to Activist”, will focus on his work as an activist and advocate for human rights and president of Death Penalty Focus.<\/p>\n

Sunday, December 5, Farrell will join leaders of nine local religious traditions to commemorate the creation of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Co-sponsored with CONFLUENCE: Northeast Indiana Interfaith Alliance, the service begins at 6:30 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, corner of Berry and Fairfield, Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n

Indiana CMEP’s mission as a grassroots organization is to promote critical awareness of issues that impact a just peace in the Middle East and to facilitate intercultural encounters locally and globally.<\/p>\n

Through programs and travel, the organization, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, works toward Middle East Peace and the education of Americans about the Middle East including topics in politics, religion, health, and the arts.<\/p>\n

The organization web site is www.indianacmep.org<\/span>. The website also links to a recommended book list as well as maps and newspaper articles from various sources.<\/p>\n

In addition to the appearances at ICMEP events, Farrell will be a part of a public symposium on the death penalty on Saturday, December 4 at Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren, 2810 Beacon Street, Fort Wayne. \u00c2\u00a0“Thou Shalt Not Kill” will feature Farrell, attorney Ellen Eggers and Rachel Gross as panelists and is sponsored by Beacon Heights.<\/p>\n

Farrell currently serves as president of Death Penalty Focus with its headquarters in San Francisco, CA.<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne native Ellen Eggers is a board member of Death Penalty Focus and an attorney with the Office of the California State Public Defender in Sacramento.<\/p>\n

Rachel Gross and her husband, Bob, co-founded the Death Row Support Project in 1978 with sponsorship of the Church of the Brethren denomination.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
