United Way Board of Directors Appoints New CEO<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n United Way of Allen County’s Board of Directors has appointed Todd Stephenson to be the agency’s new President and CEO. The full board voted on Stephenson’s hiring at its meeting Thursday, September 23, 2010. Stephenson will begin work at the agency Monday, September 27, 2010.<\/p>\n “United Way’s search committee and executive search firm worked diligently to find the best person for this job,” said Ron Turpin, United Way of Allen County board chair. “We couldn’t be more pleased to have hired Todd Stephenson. He has the integrity, professionalism and heart to take United Way of Allen County to the next level of excellence. I look forward to his tenure as CEO.”<\/p>\n Stephenson, 56, retired from Lincoln Financial Group in December 2007; he was the Vice President of Corporate Planning and Development. In various points in his career with Lincoln he also held the titles of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Lincoln Financial Advisors. He is a graduate of Indiana University with a BS in Accounting and prior to returning to Fort Wayne in 1998 worked in and was active in the Indianapolis community.<\/p>\n The new President and CEO is a Fort Wayne native, having grown up on South Hanna Street; he graduated from South Side High School. He and his wife Janet have two adult daughters. Stephenson has served on many non-profit boards, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana, The Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance, Young Life Fort Wayne and the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne. Both he and his wife are members of Faith Lutheran Church on East Pettit Avenue and are actively involved in its neighborhood outreach ministries.<\/p>\n “Clearly, the challenges we face as a community are significant and unprecedented,” said Stephenson. “I know Allen County to be a vital, caring and resourceful community capable of addressing these complex issues. United Way has a longstanding heritage and framework in helping shape the community response to these needs. It is with a great sense of privilege and excitement that I look forward to serving alongside a dedicated staff, committed board and the many tireless volunteers in collaboration with community stakeholders to successfully meet these challenges and produce a positive impact on our quality of life.”<\/p>\n “A strong United Way is critical to the success and well-being of our community,” said Turpin. “That’s why I’m so pleased to have Todd Stephenson on board.
