Homeless to Harvard’s Liz Murray to address FWCS students<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(September 16, 2010) – Liz Murray, the subject of the Lifetime Television Movie “Homeless to Harvard,” will visit Fairfield Elementary School, New Tech Academy at Wayne High School and North Side High School on Monday, Sept. 20.<\/p>\n

Murray will talk to students about her experiences growing up, including supporting her parents financially by the time she was 10 years old and becoming homeless at 15. She decided to turn her life around, graduated from high school and earned scholarships to attend Harvard University. She
\nwent on to become a national figure for her success story, and this month released her first book, “Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard.”<\/p>\n

Liz Murray is teaming up with Blessings in a Backpack to raise public awareness of hunger issues and help feed 50,000 children across the country. Blessings in a Backpack is a national program aimed at feeding children on weekends when they are away from the nutritious meals served at schools. The program is provided at Adams, Fairfield and South Wayne elementary schools in Fort Wayne and is supported by several local and national companies.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Murray will begin at 10 a.m. at Fairfield, 2825 Fairfield Ave. At 11 a.m., she will visit New Tech Academy, 9100 Winchester Road. She will end her school visits at North Side, 475 E. State Blvd., when she speaks to students from 12:30-1:30 p.m.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
