Gov. Braun Powers Indiana Defense Industry with $1B Rolls-Royce Investment<\/strong><\/p>\n

Indianapolis, Indiana (August 27, 2026) \u2013 Indiana Governor Mike Braun joined executives of Rolls-Royce today in Indianapolis to cut the ribbon on the company\u2019s $1 billion, decade-long investment in its Indiana manufacturing, assembly and test facilities. The investment \u2013 the largest the company has made in the United States \u2013 marks a significant commitment to creating high-quality jobs in Indiana for years to come while reinforcing the state\u2019s strength in advanced manufacturing and defense.<\/p>\n

\u201cRolls-Royce has called Indiana home for three decades, and this billion-dollar investment is a continued vote of confidence in Hoosier workers and our state,\u201d said Gov. Braun. \u201cAdvanced manufacturing like this is exactly what keeps Indiana\u2019s economy strong and growing. We are proud that Indiana is home to Rolls-Royce in the U.S., and we look forward to our continued successful partnership for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company\u2019s investment modernizes advanced manufacturing across its Indianapolis campus and added full-engine test capability, including new ground test facilities, and an altitude test facility in West Lafayette. This decade-long effort cements Rolls-Royce\u2019s Indianapolis operation as one of the most advanced engine manufacturing and test campuses in the world and accelerates next-generation technologies, positioning the company for sustained leadership in propulsion and long-term growth in Indiana. More Rolls-Royce defense products are built in Indianapolis than anywhere else in the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis billion-dollar investment is about more than buildings and test cells \u2014 it is about delivering for the American warfighter, on time and at the standard our customers expect,\u201d said Adam Riddle, president of Rolls-Royce Defense and CEO of Rolls-Royce North America. \u201cWe made this investment because it was the right thing to do for U.S. national security and for the future of Rolls-Royce.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rolls-Royce\u2019s investment in Indiana is powering advanced manufacturing and defense. Indiana is home to the highest concentration of manufacturing jobs in the nation and ranks No. 4 in the U.S. for aerospace manufacturing attractiveness (PwC, 2024). Thanks to leading companies like Rolls-Royce, Indiana has secured $2.5 billion in committed capital investment by defense companies since 2020 and marked a 24% increase in defense contracts during that same period.<\/p>\n

Rolls-Royce employs approximately 3,500 people in Indianapolis, including a skilled UAW workforce, and supports thousands more jobs through its Indiana supply chain. The Indianapolis facility supports a range of defense and commercial platforms, including future engines for the U.S. Air Force B-52 strategic bomber and the U.S. Army\u2019s MV-75 Cheyenne as well as current engines for the V-22 Osprey, the U.S. Navy\u2019s MQ-25A Stingray and the C-130J.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
