Additionally, the Indiana State Police Department provides comprehensive disability coverage and a life insurance program. <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/manage-loans\/forgiveness- cancellation\/public-service\" target=\"_blank\">Student loan forgiveness programs are being offered at this time<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Basic Eligibility Requirements for an Indiana State Trooper<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be a United States Citizen<\/li>\n<li>Must be at least 21 and less than 40 years of age when appointed as a Trooper.  (Appointment date is November 18, 2027)<\/li>\n<li>Must meet a minimum vision standard (corrected or uncorrected) of 20\/50 acuity in each eye and 20\/50 distant binocular acuity in both eyes.<\/li>\n<li>Must possess a valid driver\u2019s license to operate an automobile.<\/li>\n<li>Must be willing, if appointed, to reside, and serve any place, within the state of Indiana, as designated by the Superintendent.<\/li>\n<li>Must be a high school graduate, as evidenced by a diploma or high school equivalency diploma issued by an accredited institution, or have successfully graduated from a homeschool program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In addition to the high school requirements, must meet on of the additional requirements listed below<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must have attained sixty (60) college credit hours from an accredited institution prior to the application deadline, bachelor\u2019s degree preferred. Credit hours must be evidenced by a certified transcript.<\/li>\n<li>Have a minimum of three (3) years active or reserve military service having a favorable discharge or currently serving, reserve\/national guard time. (*NOTE-Active military service time encompasses all time on active duty to include deployments for reserves)<\/li>\n<li>Have a minimum of three (3) continuous years of full-time, paid, law enforcement experience (sworn or merit) having graduated from a state accredited police academy (entry level law enforcement basic training curriculum with a minimum of 600 training hours); in which the essential job functions were performed at a satisfactory or above level, as witnessed by the employer or documented by employee evaluations.
