The project, which will be constructed in two phases, includes significant work that will improve pedestrian and vehicle safety, as well as make the corridor more attractive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Specific work includes<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Traffic solutions that will help slow traffic, such as widened sidewalks, bump outs, and additions of park strips.<\/li>\n<li>New pedestrian signals and intersections.<\/li>\n<li>Reconstruction of curbs and sidewalks to meet current ADA standards.<\/li>\n<li>Reconstruction of all deteriorated drive approaches.<\/li>\n<li>Stormwater solutions such as bioswales with native plants, that will help reduce street flooding.<\/li>\n<li>56 new ornamental streetlights to improve pedestrian safety.<\/li>\n<li>Road reconstruction and new asphalt pavement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More than 300 surveys from residents who travel Oxford Street regularly, as well as several open houses attended by dozens of residents, helped guide the plans for reconstruction.
