Visitors can also learn how the plant turns waste into renewable energy to help power its operations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Visitors can<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Explore hands-on science activities and experiments with Science Central, engineers, environmental specialists and river advocates<\/li>\n<li>Tour the treatment plant\u2019s pumping facilities<\/li>\n<li>Step inside the laboratory where water is tested<\/li>\n<li>Climb aboard big trucks and see equipment used to operate and maintain the wastewater system<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy games, activities and prizes<\/li>\n<li>Purchase food from local food trucks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Water Pollution Control Plant can treat up to 100 million gallons of wastewater a day. Through interactive activities and guided tours, visitors will learn how pumps, laboratories, microorganisms and advanced technology work together to clean wastewater, protect local rivers and generate renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p>Admission and all activities are free. WaterWorks FunFest is sponsored by OmniSource and Fox Contractors.
