Fort Wayne, Indiana (June 25, 2026) \u2014 St. Joseph Missions, a cornerstone of housing support for single women experiencing homelessness in the Fort Wayne community, officially announced its rebranding to Josephine\u2019s Place during a special reveal event held today, Thursday, June 25.<\/p>\n
The unveiling marks a historic milestone for the organization as it aligns its public identity with its comprehensive, 24\/7\/365 continuum of care. To commemorate the occasion, Andy Downs, Chief of Staff to the Mayor, attended the event to read an official Mayoral Proclamation celebrating the organization’s enduring impact and bright future.<\/p>\n
The decision to rebrand was driven by a need for absolute clarity. The original name often masked the true nature of the organization\u2019s work, causing donors, partners, and individuals in need to misunderstand our service model and demographic.<\/p>\n
“We needed a new name that honors our history, respects our faith foundation, removes the jargon, and explicitly makes room for our growth,” Erin Ness, Executive Director, shared in her remarks. “The mission remains identical; the clarity is brand new.”<\/p>\n
Since its initial launch, the organization’s scope has expanded far beyond short-term relief. Today, Josephine\u2019s Place operates a full continuum of housing support, including its immediate emergency shelter and its Phase II transitional housing program.<\/p>\n
During the rebranding process, a dedicated committee evaluated the core philosophy behind their work, balancing whether their primary emphasis lay in providing “a place to go” for immediate safety or “a place to grow” for long-term transformation. The consensus was clear: the physical place itself is paramount. Before a woman can transform her life, she must first know she is in a space that is safe, stable, welcoming, and entirely hers.<\/p>\n
The new name, Josephine’s Place, serves as a warm, accessible beacon for single women of all backgrounds seeking shelter from the storm. For long-time supporters, funders, and referral partners, the rebrand stands as a firm promise to position the organization for long-term sustainability and scalability.<\/p>\n
