\nRecognized for advancing wound care and improving patient outcomes through education and innovation<\/em><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (June 29, 2026) \u2013 Brooke Randol, a clinical nurse specialist at Parkview Health, was awarded the Douglas J. Leonard Indiana Caregiver of the Year Award by the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) at the 20th annual Indiana Quality and Safety Summit, held June 18 at the Forum Events Center in Fishers, Indiana.<\/p>\n

The award recognizes an individual in the healthcare industry whose performance in the delivery of care is considered exemplary by patients and peers. It was named in honor of IHA\u2019s fourth president, Doug Leonard, who led IHA from 2007 to 2017 after a 30-year career working for Columbus Regional Health, where he served as CEO.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrooke does amazing things every day for our patients, whether it\u2019s providing care in our clinics, meeting with patients virtually or working with our physicians and nurses to educate them in best practices,\u201d said Juli Johnson, chief nursing and healthcare markets executive at Parkview Health. \u201cShe\u2019s a tireless educator and advocate in wound care, and her leadership, innovation and drive directly and indirectly ensure patients are receiving the best quality care possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Randol, MSN, RN, AGCNS-BC, CMSRN, CWS, received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Purdue University Fort Wayne and received a Master of Science in nursing from Indiana University Indianapolis in 2022. She started with Parkview in 2013 as a medical\/surgical nurse before moving into wound care in 2017. She advanced to the role of clinical nurse specialist in 2022 and now focuses on improving systemwide patient outcomes in wound care.<\/p>\n

Through her leadership in wound care, she has advanced patient outcomes across Parkview Health by expanding access to specialized services, implementing evidence-based practices, championing innovative technologies to identify patients at risk for pressure injuries, and helping standardize care across hospitals, clinics and virtual settings.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrooke does so many things for our wound care service line from delivering patient care to overseeing clinical research to presenting at regional and national meetings and more,\u201d said Dr. James Edlund, wound care medical director for Parkview Health. \u201cShe is a caregiver, connector, teacher and facilitator. We could not ask for a better or more effective clinical nurse specialist in wound care.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her unwavering commitment to putting patients first, combined with her ability to drive systemwide improvements that benefit communities across Indiana and northwest Ohio, exemplifies the highest standards of nursing and healthcare excellence.<\/p>\n
