This free community event is \u201cpeople-powered\u201d and provides participants with a safe space to bike, walk and play along more than 20 blocks on Calhoun Street. There will be activities for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy together with games, music, food and much more planned.<\/p>\n<p>This year, for the first time, the Fort Wayne FC is excited to host a meet and greet with their players!  Additional new activities include live ice sculpting, a rapid chess tournament, a fitness challenge with a leaderboard, along with fun roping activities provided by the Summit Equestrian Club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnique events like Open Streets bring us together as a community to spend time with family and friends, meet new people, and try fun activities,\u201d said Mayor Tucker. \u201cWe have so much to experience and celebrate in Fort Wayne. I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the special day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe invite you to \u2018Come Play in the Streets\u2019 on Sunday, August 16 as Open Streets returns for the ninth season,\u201d said Greenways Program Manager Rick Zolman. \u201cWe\u2019re expecting 125 activity providers to bring fun, food and the cool Open Streets vibe to the Calhoun Corridor. Gather your friends, family, and neighbors to join us by wheel, heel, roll or stroll. Don\u2019t miss out on a free ice cream cone provided by Dreyer\u2019s Grand Ice Cream while enjoying Fort Wayne\u2019s largest block party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers are needed for 2 \u00bd hour time slots, before, during and after the event.
