Allen County officials are urging residents and local agencies to be prepared for multiple rounds of severe weather expected to impact the area this afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n

Allen County Officials Urge Preparedness Ahead of Significant Severe Weather Threat Today<\/strong><\/p>\n

Allen County, Indiana (June 17, 2026) \u2013 Allen County officials are urging residents and local agencies to be prepared for multiple rounds of severe weather expected to impact the area this afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) has placed Allen County under an Enhanced Risk for severe storms, a Level 3 of 5 threat category, indicating the potential for high\u2011impact weather. NWS reports the conditions may grow more concerning this evening, with the primary threat period expected between 5:00 PM and midnight.<\/p>\n

A Flood Watch is also in effect for Allen County beginning at 2:00 PM today and continuing through 2:00 AM Thursday.<\/p>\n

Allen County officials remain briefed by the Allen County Department of Emergency Management (OEM) to keep road crews, field personnel, parks staff and anyone working outdoors or in light structures up to date on conditions. Officials emphasize that outdoor warning sirens should not be relied upon as the primary method of receiving alerts but rather have multiple reliable ways to receive weather warnings and access trusted weather sources such as the National Weather Service or follow local news outlets for real time reports.<\/p>\n

The OEM will actively monitor the storm system throughout the afternoon and evening in coordination with the National Weather Service and local partners. If storms result in structural damage, road closures, or other safety concerns, the county has procedures in place to assess the impact and do damage assessment.<\/p>\n
