Photo courtesy of the Indiana State Police.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Indianapolis, Indiana (June 11, 2026) &#8211; The Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED) is responsible for enforcing both state and federal regulations on all commercial motor vehicles (CMV). Major tasks include conducting Safety Inspections, New Entrant Safety Audits, and Compliance Reviews to ensure compliance with equipment and hours-of-service regulations.<\/p>\n<p>CVED is also tasked with enforcing Indiana\u2019s size and weight laws and ensuring that commercial carriers are properly registered and paying their fair share of fuel tax dollars. Additionally, they assist in the investigation of commercial vehicle crashes (post-crash inspections) and manage the annual school bus inspection program.<\/p>\n<p>From April 15-May 15, 2026, because of their enforcement efforts, ISP CVED accomplished the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Total CMV Inspections Completed<\/strong> \u2013 4,694<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total Out of Service Drivers \u2013 505<\/li>\n<li>Total Out of Service Vehicles \u2013 642<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Total Number of Oversize Violations<\/strong> \u2013 36<br \/>\n<strong>Total Number of Overweight Violations<\/strong> \u2013 259<\/p>\n<p>ISP CVED\u2019s enforcement efforts are part of Governor Braun\u2019s public safety platform to ensure safe environments to travel, work and live for all Hoosiers and for those who traverse the \u201cCrossroads of America\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/docs\/State_of_Indiana\/ISP\/2026\/2026-05_ISP_Commercial_Vehicle_Enforcement_stats.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Download the year-to-date totals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Related Images:<\/h3><div class=\"ngg-related-gallery\">\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/gallery\/in\/trooper_noone.jpg\"\n\t\t\ttitle=\"Indiana State Police Trooper Chris Noone.
