Sergeant Adam Kitson Honored with Life Saving Award<\/strong><\/p>\n

Indianapolis, Indiana (May 3, 2026) -The Indiana State Police held their annual awards and recognition ceremony in Indianapolis on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The ceremony publicly recognized the achievements and accomplishments that too often go unrecognized. Troopers were honored for their dedication, service, bravery, and devotion to the department and the citizens of Indiana.<\/p>\n

On February 26, 2025, DeKalb Central Communications received a call of a three-month-old child that was not breathing on I69 near the 337 mile marker. Indiana State Police Sgt. Adam Kitson was a short distance away and arrived on scene very quickly. Upon his arrival, Sgt. Kitson found a mother performing CPR on her child. Sgt. Kitson began performing chest compressions as the mother continued rescue breathing. Once an AED arrived on scene, Sgt. Kitson applied the pads, but the device advised a shock was not advised. Sgt. Kitson and the child\u2019s mother continued rescue CPR on the child until Waterloo Fire Department and Parkview EMS arrived on scene. Thanks to the quick response and team effort, the child was able to begin breathing on their own. Sgt. Kitson\u2019s medical training and quick response played a significant roll in preserving the life of the child.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
