It was retired on December 7, 1961, and displayed at <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/RailGiants_Train_Museum\" target=\"_blank\">RailGiants Train Museum<\/a> in Pomona, California. In 2013, the Union Pacific re-acquired it and launched a full restoration effort to return it to operating condition. In May, 2019, it moved under its own power after almost six decades of inactivity.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of the world&#8217;s largest operational steam locomotives and the only one operating of the eight that are still in existence. In fact, only 25 were built to begin with. (<strong>Source<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Union_Pacific_4014\" target=\"_blank\">Union Pacific 4014 Wikipedia<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.up.com\/about-us\/history\/steam\/schedule\" target=\"_blank\">View the schedule here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, June 5, 2026, the locomotive will be headed east on the Norfolk Southern Railroad and will stop in Argos, Indiana at 2:15 pm before departing for Fort Wayne at 2:45 pm. <\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re guessing it&#8217;ll go through downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana, on the former Nickel Plate Elevation soon after. They&#8217;ll probably tie down overnight at the rail yard in New Haven, Indiana, before resuming her journey to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>The locomotive will spend a couple of days in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and then head back west. The schedule looks like it&#8217;ll be at Horshoe Curve in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on July 11, 2026, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railroadcity.org\/events\" target=\"_blank\">where it&#8217;ll stop for ticketed viewing<\/a>.
